Disaster Relief in Pakistan
The 2000s were a turbulent decade in Pakistan and worldwide. The threat of terrorism reached new heights, and natural disasters seemed unrelenting. Millions of citizens had to flee their homes due to the extreme conditions.
Two major earthquakes, several floods and a crippling drought resulted in notable populations becoming displaced. Immense suffering was endured by those affected: They had to cope with the loss of livestock, livelihood and even life itself.
This called for forces in the region to band together for the sake of its people. International humanitarian aid organisations, government, the Pakistani army and the citizens themselves united in the mission to abate the hardship of those affected by such calamities.
